With Christmas coming I thought a page with a little info on our policies might be helpful!

I've heard good and bad things about buying puppies as gifts...we all have.  I thought I'd share some tips on how to make this a less stressful time for your family and your new puppy.
As a child I begged for a new puppy.  Every holiday I would dash to the Christmas tree and just couldn't wait because I NEW that I was going to get that puppy I had been dreaming about. What a cool thing to go for you children or your special someone.  Making the best of it for your new puppy is also important.  Please don't over handle the puppy.  What does that mean?  Puppies require sleep and quiet times.  Over handling the puppy would be keeping in up and in someone's arms for hours and hours without allowing it some piece and quiet.  Children handing it back and forth, all giving it so much love is adorable but please keep in mind these are babies.  Keep a close eye on the kids and teach them how to safely handle the puppy. Making sure that the puppy is allowed plenty of time for eating is very important.  A quiet place with his/her food and water is a must do.  Understanding that 10 minutes after he/she eats that she will need to be taken outside to go potty will take a ton of stress off of you.  The less accidents they have the happier your family will be.  Knowing that you don't take home a new puppy and turn them loose in your house on your brand new carpet and expect no accidents, well that just doesn't make sense.  When puppies walk is what stimulates them to use the bathroom...keeping them in yours arms, right there in from of you on a tile floor etc or outside going potty will make your life much easier.  Having a safe area for them ready when you get home is also a must do.  Many new parents pick up a baby gate and use a laundry room or purchase a play pen for there new puppies. (this is what I use)  The area you plan to use for your new puppy should be the proper size to include his/her food/water, a small bed, toys and chew toys as well as a potty pad.  If they cannot hold it until you return..let them use the potty pad.  They are super easy to clean up, cuts down on smell etc and teaches them that if they must have a accident there is a proper place to do so.
One major item - don't change there food during this adjusting time.  Changes in food can lead to upset stomach and you don't want to deal with that while your getting use to your new addition. Don't feed "people food" to them as well, lets keep the body going in the right direction and then if you chose to change his/her food do it right by mixing them slowly to avoid upset.
Using you head and remembering that they are babies is the most important thing.  Common sense.  Also..CALL ME if your having problems or issues.  We LOVE these babies and we want them to be happy in there new home.  If your not happy, the puppy won't be happy.  Then I won't be happy!  I don't mind questions, any way we can help you with your new puppy to make everyone happy is great so please feel free to email us or call.  If something doesn't look right, it most likely isn't.
Lets make this a MAGICAL CHRISTMAS for everyone and if adding one of our babies to your family will help do that I am just thrilled.

Lets all have a VERY Merry Christmas!!
