Feeding Program
A quality feeding program is essential to producing a healthy quality animal. Years
of research and thru trial and error we feel we are really doing the very best that we can for our adult dogs as well as our
puppies. Animals that are not fed well and fed proper amounts don't produce well and don't thrive. Doing anything less
then the best we can do for our all of animals is detrimental to there health and well being but it will also not allow
them to produce well and will cause them to be less then productive as far as breeding goes. Feeding the finest
feeds makes good sense...for so many reasons.
Over the years I have tried just about every feed on the market. I (and our dogs) have
found that feeding Bil Jac feeds works. I also feed a variety of fresh meats and vegetables..even pasta.
Why? Well variety is the spice of life as they say! I believe this to be true. All of our puppies are weaned
to Bil Jac feeds. Please continue to feed this unless your Veterinarian suggests otherwise. If
it isn't broken..Please don't "fix it". Your asking for upset stomachs and finicky eaters - the last thing a new puppy
who is already going thru major life changes needs.
Potty Training
So many questions..just what is the easiest way to potty train your new family member?
It is very simple. Most people just don't seem to get it..keep it simple. Animals are like people..like children.
They learn by repeating the same thing over and over. Some learn quicker then others but they all DO get it as long
as YOU do what you need to be doing without fail. I've heard that old saying - you can't teach and old dog new
tricks..hog wash! Use your head - and all will be well in no time at all. Follow these few simple steps and you
and your family and YES your pet will be so much happier. Dogs have a natural instinct..it's just built into them to
want to please YOU. Children don't have this...so this should be much easier then say potty training your first born.
Relax and just don't think of this as the hardest thing your ever going to have to do. I use a combination of tried and
true easy to follow steps-I've never had this fail..if you do -- I do offer potty training - training at my home and would be
happy to board your puppy/dog at my home and complete this task for you. Check out our training page for more information
of this service we are happy to offer our clients.
Go to your local craft store
and buy a Large "jingle bell" my jingle bell method is a key to an easy house breaking experience for you and your pet.
Tie the jingle bell to a long ribbon (you can buy a ribbon to match your decor. Tie this ribbon with the jingle
bell hanging down to the height that your puppy (or adult dogs - this works well for adult dogs that your trying to house
break as well.
1. Set up a routine. (all dogs will use the bathroom 10 minutes after they eat) Your puppy needs to eat frequently, so it will need to use the bathroom frequently as well. Controlled feedings
are a must. Depending upon the age of your puppy
will determine the amount of feeding necessary. I firmly suggest
feeding your puppy 2 times per day until they reach the 8 months
of age. At that time you can go to a 1 time per day feeding,
unless you would like to go to a free feeding program.
2. Take them Out! Because you fully understand that once they eat - they will have
to use the bathroom..once they have completed eatting - it's time to use
the bathroom. The KEY to your success and there's is to always - always use the same door to take them out to potty.
